Turn your data into a targeted action plan. By identifying gaps in the Strand Overview, you can align your daily instruction with the specific needs of your cohort.
Step One: Analyse Your Data
Begin by reviewing the Strand Overview for your class or cohort. Your goal is to pinpoint specific areas of need. Look for the lowest percentages of understanding for content at or below grade level.
This can be identified under each strand ( Language, Literature, Literacy (AC/VC) or under English K-10 (NSW)
AC/VC:
NSW:
Step Two: Prioritise Key Concepts
Once you’ve identified areas with a lower percentage of understanding, you can use My Literacy for building skills using the texts found within My Literacy texts for instruction
Choose one content descriptor (AC/ VC) or content group (NSW) to focus on as needed. Incorporate this into your Daily Skill Building Instruction across the term.
You can then access the aligning My Literacy task to provide an opportunity to focus on 5 questions daily, focusing on:
Reading:
Comprehension
Text structure
Language features
Language conventions
Writing:
Pre-writing
Structure within texts
Using Language
Editing and Revising
Step Three: Access My Literacy to be able to review, edit and allocate tasks. See our guide here on how you can do this: Reviewing and Editing My Literacy Activities
