Before you start, view your data first. See Help Guide: Using English Data to inform priorities for instruction
Download the My Literacy Overview
Access the RESOURCES tab in the top- left hand side of your dashboard. Locate the Teaching Resources and select the English Tab. You will be able to download the My Literacy Overview from this screen.
Use My Literacy for explicit Instruction
Where gaps are identified, EA provides purpose-written texts and tasks. Educators design short, focused "episode" sequences.
Decide on a text to focus on using your data, then use the My Literacy overview to see which texts align to the content descriptor/ Syllabus code.
Teach the text following the structure below:
See our planning template here.
Then allocate the task for students to complete independently. You can enable My Literacy activities from the My Literacy dashboard.
Track and Reflect
After instruction, the students complete their My Literacy check for understanding task.
You may wish to allocate the Task to your whole class to gather evidence of improvement. Hovering over the code will provide the class average result when students have submitted their 20 questions. The goal is 80% or greater for mastery. Reflect and celebrate if there has been growth!
Individual results will appear on the student’s dashboard when they submit their activity. Students can transfer their results onto their “I can “ Learning goal star sheet if exported and provided to the student.
You can export your class "I Can" Statements by clicking into View Class Results and using the export drop-down on the right-hand side. The I can statements are the second export option.
Students who achieve 80% or greater will earn a trophy. The teacher can download Growth Achievement Certificates for their students from the My Literacy Dropdown by selecting Growth Achievement.
