Setting up Administrator defaults on Essential Assessment

Our Administrator (Admin) functionality is an optional feature that allows a nominated Admin to set up Assessment options for use across all classes in your school. This can help ensure that data is collected consistently across all classes. Read on to find out more about Administrator rights on EA.

Why request Administrator rights?

Schools can utilise an Administrator account to streamline assessments across the school.

  • Consistency: Having all assessments set with the same controls and settings will further improve the consistency of data collection across your school.
  • Peace of Mind: Reduce the need for other teachers to check their assessment options regularly (particularly when using Dynamic assessments)

Requesting Administrator Rights

To request the Administrator option for your school, please contact us at info@essentialassessment.com.au. Our Support team look forward to assisting you, and will confirm when the administrator function has been turned on.

To nominate an administrator, one person from the school needs to be selected. This person, once nominated, can then edit any other Educator profiles to grant them administrator status.

Accessing Administrator privileges

Once the nominated educator logs in to Essential Assessment, they can access the Administrator Defaults tab by selecting Online Assessment and the Cog Wheel.

Click on Assessment Defaults. You will be presented with a screen of the available options. You must first activate the school assessment defaults by turning it ON.

Once the defaults are turned ON, you can then select the options you would like to LOCK. This setting will apply to all classes and all assessments from that point onwards.

When teachers access their assessment options screen, they will see which options are LOCKED and which options can be turned ON/OFF according to the needs of their class.

This will support whole-school data collection and reduce the need for teachers to check their assessment options regularly, particularly in relation to the DYNAMIC function.

Under Assessment Options for other users, the 'Locked assessment options are managed by school administrators' message will appear beneath the options list.

Creating additional Administrators

Once an educator has been nominated as an administrator, they also have the capability to nominate additional accounts to have the same privileges. Select Educator Profiles from the Cog Wheel on the Online Assessment page.

Hover over the Educator that needs to be edited.

Select the Administrator tag on the profile and select SAVE CHANGES.

The user will now have all of the same privileges as the main administrator.
