Sunset Maths

Sunset Maths is aimed at developing each student's mental Mathematics skills in the four operations: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, as well as Money, Length and Capacity from the student's current understanding. Sunset Maths allocates a starting point one year below the student's enrolled year level so students start with success.

Students work through each stage of Sunset Maths, answering questions before the sun sets. This earns them tokens as they progress.

Class Overview

Under Class Overview, you can enable the operations you would like your students to work through. Switch the toggle to ON to enable the operation, and switch the toggle to OFF so your students cannot access that operation.

You're able to use the cog wheel next to each student's name to adjust a student's starting level. If required, the timer can also be turned off for students as a learning adjustment.

Jetpack Algebra

Jetpack Algebra is aimed at developing student understanding and knowledge of Algebra. Jetpack Algebra initially focuses on developing early years Algebraic concepts and progresses to developing students understanding of the most efficient processes for solving linear equations, linear inequalities and exponential equations.

Jetpack Algebra enables students to take their avatar on a visual exploration of Algebraic concepts from K-10.

Class Overview

Under Class Overview, click the magnifying glass to view the activity for that level. Click the + icon to assign that activity as the starting point for all students in your class.

My Spelling

My Spelling is accessible without students needing to complete a pre-assessment. My Spelling uses an investigative and varied approach. Each word list focuses on three aspects of spelling: Phonics (sound-letter relationships), Visual patterns (words that look the same), and Semantics (meaning). Integrating these three aspects of spelling provides students with a holistic approach to spelling.

We recommend starting students on My Spelling by linking them to a specific spelling land based on the errors identified in their writing. My Spelling lands align with the common spelling concepts identified.

For example, if you notice groups of students requiring support identifying and spelling homophones, assign them Years 3-6, Land 4 - Homophones.

When students work through a spelling land, they use a range of spelling skills to spell familiar and unfamiliar words. This will provide data and highlight further spelling misconceptions that can be targeted within My Spelling.

Class Overview

Under the Learn section, click My Spelling Options. Here you can choose the different features available to students when working through the activity.

We would recommend that you set these options before making the activities available to your students. Students need to begin with the Play zone in order to generate data. The recommended order is to turn on Play first, then Learn, then Practice, and then Find to provide further consolidation before you Assess.

Manually assign Spelling Lands by switching the toggle to IS ON. Keep the toggle on IS OFF if you don't want the student to work through that land.

Click Auto-assign lands to automatically assign Spelling Lands. The system will use the class data from Assessment History to assign Spelling Lands based on the students' data and their misunderstood concept descriptors.

Click My Spelling - Overview (PDF) to download an overview of what each land focuses on.

You also have the ability to assess your students based on the focus area they have been working on from the ASSESS section.

From here, you can choose which activities to assign to your students by clicking the + icon. Click the - icon to remove activities.

Under Category, click All, Rule, Sound or Word building to filter different aspects.

Click the blue pad icon to download a generated focus sheet.
